I’m really excited that you’re here and I can’t believe that after all this time, I finally get to launch the brand new Function of Planning blog!
This blog has been a labor of love that started with a mom in desperate need of a creative outlet. I can’t even begin tell you how many iterations and pivots led to its creation. Name changes, design shifts, debates on monetizing or creating a small business, and an all out war with myself concerning perfectionism, self-sabotage, imposter syndrome, and -gasp- procrastination. By the end of the first year, my creativity was drained I wanted to throw in the towel completely. I won’t go into all the details because that would be a novel, not a blog post. However, I’ll sum it up like this – it took two years of second guessing, re-work cycles, and hiding behind “getting it perfect” for me to hit the “launch button” on this website.
If you want to read more about me and the purpose behind Function of Planning I’ve linked it for you here:
If you want the short version: this blog serves to explore the function that planning serves in our lives. We all use planning in different ways and I look forward to examining all of it! Due to the nature of how we use planning, blog post topics may spill into other topics such as organization and lifestyle. I’ll be adding more blog categories as the posts roll out to better organize the information.
Content you can expect:
- Planner inspiration & how to information
- Planning guides, checklists, & tools
- Planner size/layout comparisons
- Digital vs physical planning
- Planning techniques
- Planning for a wellness journey & accountability
- Planning/implementing selfcare practices (i.e journaling, reading, or just making “me time”)
- Planning for balance (work, life, etc.)
- Planner/tools reviews/unboxings/organization
Please note that this isn’t an exhaustive or rigid list. I have a list of over 100 ideas and some may fall outside these topics. Based on feedback, I’ll make the necessary pivots. If there’s something you want me to cover that I haven’t, drop a comment and I’ll add it to the list!
As this is a new blog, I’m still determining the release tempo for posts. The current goal is to release one blog post a week. So if things look a little sparse right now – bear with me – it won’t take long before there’s more content for you to peruse.
Reminder: this blog is my creative outlet – a hobby. I do this because I LOVE PLANNING. However, I may make product recommendations in blog posts. These recommendations and opinions are my own and based on my experience. Any affiliate relationships will be disclosed at the top of any page containing affiliate links. You don’t have to agree with my opinions – I love a good spirited debate – all I ask is that you keep it kind in the comments and let us all learn from one another.
I’m currently working on launching my other social media platforms. If you’d like to go ahead and connect/follow, they can be found in the sidebar, header, and footer on all blog pages. Release dates for these are TBD and will likely be a rolling release throughout the rest of this year. I may even have some other surprise things launching later this year.
If you want the latest information in your inbox, join my monthly newsletter. There’s a sign up form in the sidebar (or scroll all to the very bottom of this post). The newsletter will be sent monthly and will contain any announcements, recap top posts/videos, and what’s happening at Function of Planning IKYMI – because life can get busy.
Now that the housekeeping is out of the way – let’s get into it!
Happy Planning!
